Guess what? Summer is officially here! While the Texas heat has been around for a while, don’t let this fact discount the magic that only this sunshiny season can deliver. To get you in the spirit, we’re helping you get your home summer-ready. Here are some of our favorite tips and tricks:
Get Routine Maintenance Out of the Way
Fun fact: Summer makes people lazy. And while there’s nothing wrong with kicking back and soaking up a little sunshine, homeowners are responsible for a handful of routine maintenance tasks before they can relax. To ensure everything is up and running, here are a few to-dos:
Service the HVAC unit
Scrub down the grill
Spruce up the front door
Check and clear out the gutters
Inspect the exterior of your home (siding, windows, and roof)
Prep the Patio
If you’re ready to get your hot girl summer on, you need a patio area that’s worthy of some alfresco entertaining. Don’t let the size of your patio limit your imagination; there are many ways you can revive the look and feel of the space. Ideally, you want your patio to have separate lounging and eating areas. However, if you’re short on space, consider updating the area with bright textiles and a comfy lounge set. While you’re decorating, don’t forget to give your patio a good cleaning.
Let the Sunshine In!
You never really know how dirty your home windows are until you clean them—we’re talking a truly deep clean. Instead of casually wiping down the interior panes for fingerprints and dog snot, clean the inside and the outside of your windows with a vinegar and water solution. The result will shock you!
Stock the Bar & Drink Station
Texas summers are sizzling hot. To ensure the entire family is well-quenched, make sure your drink stations are stocked. For some that means loading the outdoor drink fridge with sodas, for others that means amping up the home bar with everything needed for fresh and fruity summer cocktails.
Accessorize With Summery Décor
The pièce de résistance to your home’s summer revival? Accessories! One of the best ways to kick off the season is with decorations that evoke the summertime spirit. These usually include citrus (real or fake), flowers, and pops of color.
