It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway through the 2021 year! And to celebrate, we’ve decided to share some of our favorite interior design trends. Here’s how you can get your home on-trend:
Level-Up Your Indoor Plant Collection
If you haven’t become a plant parent yet, this is your sign to start adopting. One of the biggest interior design trends for 2021 is plant life—we’re talking real plants! These “accessories” are compatible with every and any interior style, from contemporary to traditional. Plus, some have been scientifically proven to help purify the air in your home as well as improve mood.
Wicker & Rattan Everything
Natural materials and textures are making a huge statement in this year’s interior designs. When in doubt, choose earthy tones—like terracotta, natural woods, and stone. Together, these organic tones and materials will add depth, warmth, and texture to your rooms. It’s a great way to create a calming atmosphere in your home and pay homage to Mother Nature.
The Grandmillennial Trend
“Formal” dining and living rooms are being designed with comfort in mind, and the grandmillennial trend is the easiest way to cozy up these areas of your home. This trend embraces granny-chic styles, which is basically a modern twist on homey design elements that you’d likely find in your grandparent’s house. Channel your inner maximalist by layering velvets and including brass accents, vintage art or knickknacks, and a hodgepodge of floral patterns.

Industrial Interiors
This interior design trend mixes modern and traditional styles; it’s a tribute to architecture. At its core, industrial interiors use wood, stonework, and metal to accent the structural layout of a room. You’ll often see this more masculine style in home libraries, studies, or man caves.
You Get a Lamp & You Get a Lamp!
Most homeowners are working from home these days. As a result, table and floor lamps have increased in popularity and are quickly becoming defining centerpieces in interior designs. Not only do lamps improve lighting, but they create a cozy atmosphere. Pro tip: Try using smart lights in your lamps!
Divide & Conquer
If we learned to value anything in 2021, it’s privacy. After last year’s quarantine, many realized the importance of setting physical boundaries within a home. In an open layout, this can be achieved by strategically placing furniture. For example, you can create defined sitting areas within an open layout by facing smaller couches together in a sitting-room setup. You can further distinguish areas with rugs, vintage chairs, lamps, and side tables. In other words, focus on defining a purpose for every area within a larger room.
